Claims
Claim / Loss Type | Description and Action Required |
Property Claim | For immediate or emergency on-site support related to a property loss (Ex: flood, fire, theft, vandalism, etc.), please contact McMaster Security Services and follow the McMaster Emergency Guide.
As soon as is practicable following the incident, report ALL claims, regardless of dollar amount, involving property loss or damage to the Chief Risk Office. Claims may include, but are not limited to:

Automobile Claim | As soon as is practicable following the incident, report ALL automobile losses or claims, regardless of dollar amount, involving property loss or damage to the Chief Risk Office. |
General Liability Claim (Lawsuit) | General liability claims usually involve personal property damage, injury, or related medical expenses to third parties, such as the public, students, or visitors.
Staff and faculty should direct individuals to the McMaster University Office of Legal Services relating to service of liability claims or to discuss potential liability claims. OLS will then contact the Chief Risk Office for insurance involvement, if applicable.
